Advanced Physiotherapy Equipment

At Dynamic Movement Physiotherapy, I utilise advanced physiotherapy equipment to enhance patient outcomes significantly. My commitment to providing the best possible care means employing cutting-edge technology that improves diagnostic accuracy, tracks treatment progression, and offers precise, objective measurements. This state-of-the-art equipment enables me to create tailored treatment plans that bolster rehabilitation outcomes for my patients in Hereford and Bromyard. Below, I outline some of the key devices I use and their benefits.

Hand Held Dynamometer (HHD)

The ActivForce System at Dynamic Movement Physiotherapy

The Hand Held Dynamometer (HHD) is an essential tool in my physiotherapy practice, allowing for accurate muscle strength measurements and tracking rehabilitation progress over time.

Benefits:

  • Provides an objective assessment of muscle strength.
  • Helps identify specific areas of weakness for targeted treatment.
  • Increases patients' confidence in progressing strengthening exercises and return-to-sport decisions.
  • Assists in diagnosing neuromuscular disorders such as muscular dystrophy.
  • Enhances motivation by visualising strength improvements.
  • Utilised in research to improve understanding of muscle performance.

Key Features:

  • Tracks real-time data for monitoring injury risks and chronic conditions.
  • Provides comprehensive strength and range of motion (ROM) analysis.
  • Assesses muscle symmetry to detect significant weaknesses.
  • Measures both active and passive range of motion.

In addition to the HHD, I employ the ActivForce system, an integrated dynamometer that combines strength measurement with digital tracking through an app. This system offers real-time data monitoring, enabling me to create highly personalised rehabilitation programmes.

Stabiliser Pressure Biofeedback Cuff

Another innovative tool in my practice is the Chattanooga Stabilizer, a pressure biofeedback device that assesses and strengthens core and deep neck muscles. This device registers pressure changes in an air-filled cell, providing real-time feedback during exercises.

Benefits:

  • Enhances core stability and neck muscle strength.
  • Helps prevent and treat lower back and neck pain.
  • Allows patients to focus on engaging the correct muscles.
  • Provides measurable feedback for improved rehabilitation outcomes.

Scientific support for the effectiveness of pressure biofeedback is evident in studies published in reputable journals, confirming its ability to facilitate coordinated core muscle contractions and provide valuable insights for individuals suffering from lower back pain.

PALM Palpation Meter for Skeletal Alignment Evaluation

The Importance of LLD Assessment

Leg length discrepancies (LLD) can lead to various musculoskeletal issues due to structural imbalances or muscle adaptations. I use the PALM palpation meter to provide precise assessment methods for LLD compared to traditional tape measures.

Benefits:

  • Accurately differentiates between structural and functional LLD.
  • Helps diagnose musculoskeletal disorders stemming from leg length imbalances.
  • Assists in identifying the specific anatomical source of discrepancy.
  • Provides essential data for personalised treatment plans.

Understanding the significance of LLD assessment is crucial. Structural LLD involves actual bony asymmetry, while functional LLD results from muscle imbalances that alter leg positioning. LLD can affect posture and gait, potentially leading to pain in the knees, hips, and lower back. While X-rays offer the most accurate measurements, the PALM meter serves as a reliable alternative for in-clinic assessments.
